The ASEAN Federation of Glass Manufacturers (AFGM) is now a 40 years old regional industry association composed of glass manufacturers in South East Asia. It was organized in 1977 by 19 glass manufacturers from the then five member countries of ASEAN who convened on July 23rd and July 24th of that year at the Silahis International Hotel in Manila, Philippines and then at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay City for the purpose of setting up a regional industry association.

Yogyakarta Special Region is one of the first and foremost cultural hotspot in the center of Java.  This region is located at the foot of the active Merapi Volcano and was the home of the mighty Javanese Empire of Mataram in the 16th and 17th Century.  Due to its rich cultural history, Yogyakarta has inherited some of the most unique traditions in Indonesia.  The city has a unique charm and mixture of modern and traditional Indonesia which seldom fails to captivate the visitors.

Yogyakarta is centrally located in Central Java and is often called the main gateway to the Central Java.  It stretches north to Mount Merapi and south to the Indian Ocean. There are many daily local air service to Yogyakarta from Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bali, as well as international direct flights from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Visitors to Indonesia who holds a regular non-diplomatic passport is free to enter Indonesia for tourism, family and social visits, art and cultural activities, official government duties, giving speeches, attending seminars or exhibitions, and/or transit through Indonesia except for the following countries: Afghanistan, Cameroon, Guinea, Israel, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, North Korea, and Somalia.  The passport holders of the 9 countries mentioned require an approval from Immigration Office in Indonesia before travelling for Business, Tourist, and Social Visits purposes.

Indonesian and Yogyakarta tourism is touted by all major travel magazines worldwide and it is constantly featured in numerous travel publications internationally.   Yogyakarta especially has always has the history of being a very peaceful and traditionally laid back region. As for the safety in the streets, there is very little violent crime in Yogyakarta, especially in the area where the conference will be held.  The Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta is a private resort with a very high standard in safety and you can rest assured that your safety is our main concern and priority.

September usually is the beginning of Rainy season so we expect light to moderate rain during the duration of the conference.  The average daily temperature will range between 26 to 28 degree centigrade with average humidity of around 75%.

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great honor to welcome you to the 42nd ASEAN Glass Conference in the beautiful city of Yogyakarta - INDONESIA. This event will take place from 24th to 27th September 2018 and it is deemed as one of the most important events for the glass industry in the South East Asian region as well as worldwide.

This year’s event marks the 10th time it is held in Indonesia and the 3rd time to be held in Yogyakarta Special Region.  The Indonesian Glass Manufacturing Association (IGMA) as the host country is fully committed to organizing an attractive, fun, and informative conference, hence providing added values and knowledge to all stakeholders in the industry.


The theme of this year’s conference is “The Colorful of Glass: Shaping The Future and Breakthroughs to Excellence” putting an exclamation point on the ever evolving various glass technologies in the industry today and the issues surrounding it.  The conference will address the latest development in the glass industry technology, as well as market trends and brief economic forecast for the coming year.

In order to have a fruitful conference, we will invite a number of distinguished and well qualified speakers to share the most updated as well as accurate information on numerous subjects in conjunction to our theme, and at the same time giving us a great opportunity to expand our business network in the industry.

In addition to the conference activities, we will also be arranging some social event as well as business gathering in the form of golf tournament, half-day social tours, and a full day tour for all conference participants. Delegates will be able to enjoy the sights and the warm culture of Yogyakarta, with many interesting local activities to suit your interest.
